At Monterail, a remote-first tech company, leadership recognized that employee wellbeing was just as critical as technical excellence—especially in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic and other global challenges. To address rising stress and uncertainty, Monterail partnered with Hedepy for Business (former HearMe). What began as a trial in late 2020 has since evolved into a cornerstone of Monterail’s benefits strategy, fostering a healthier, more open workplace culture.

How it started

The Covid-19 pandemic, followed by the war in Ukraine and ongoing global uncertainty, significantly impacted the mental health of employees worldwide. At Monterail, leadership recognized the urgent need to address these challenges and provide employees with reliable mental health support.

In November 2020, as Poland emerged from its third lockdown, Monterail introduced Hedepy for Business (former HearMe)—a mental health platform providing psychological support and coaching. The decision was driven by co-CEOs Szymon Boniecki and Bartosz Rega, who saw mental health care as an essential part of the company’s benefits strategy.

A short trial run quickly demonstrated its value. In an anonymous survey, 85% of participants declared they would continue using Hedepy for Business (former HearMe), motivating Monterail to make the platform a permanent benefit.

Why we chose Hedepy for Business (former HearMe)

Hedepy for Business (former HearMe) proved to be the ideal solution for Monterail due to several factors:

  • Anonymity and security – The app ensures complete confidentiality, which was key in reducing stigma around therapy and encouraging participation.
  • Accessibility – Employees can access Hedepy for Business (former HearMe) directly in their browsers, without the need for downloads, and choose between video, phone, or chat sessions.
  • Tailored support – Matching is based on a short questionnaire, ensuring employees are paired with therapists or coaches suited to their needs.
  • Holistic approach – Beyond one-on-one consultations, Hedepy for Business (former HearMe) provides workshops, webinars, and educational materials supporting resilience and wellbeing.
  • Scalability – The collaboration allowed Monterail to contribute feedback, resulting in UX improvements, more English-language resources, and the inclusion of therapists experienced in working with tech professionals.

These qualities aligned closely with Monterail’s values of flexibility, creativity, and care for employees.

Impact

After 1.5 years of using Hedepy for Business (former HearMe), Monterail saw a clear cultural shift around mental health:

  • 20+ employees use the app regularly or on demand each month.
  • Stigma around therapy decreased, with employees more openly discussing mental health challenges.
  • Hedepy for Business (former HearMe) became a valued recruitment benefit, with candidates reacting positively when learning about it during the hiring process.
  • Employees support each other by exchanging recommendations about therapists and coaches.
  • The program encouraged a mindset of work-life fit rather than balance—integrating personal and professional wellbeing as part of daily life.

The initiative reinforced Monterail’s belief that investing in mental health is crucial for employee creativity, resilience, and long-term retention.
